Lookin' at the next batch of awards, we have the "Shiniest Boyz"! This award is given for the team that has the highest combined Hobby score. How does one accumulate Hobby score, you find yourself asking- well, let me tell you!
Each player has the ability to earn Hobby Score according to the Hobby Rubric to a maximum of 60 points. The Hobby Rubric (which can be found in the "Scoring" Section) can be broken down as follows:
Base Score: Up to 25 points, this is given for the overall standard of your whole army. Each army will receive either 0, 5, 15, or 25 points as a base starting point to their score.
Paint Technique: Up to 5. This is for your blending techniques, layering, etc.
Complexity of Work: Up to 5. Based off of the number of colors, layers above contrasts, or the overall difficulty (like smooth whites, yellows, or oranges- what a pain to paint!)
Details: Up to 5. Can we see the pupils of your models eyes? Can we see the sparkle of their gems? Can I see a bit of Aelf flesh left in yer Squig's teeth?
Use of Freehand: Up to 5. Freehand is tough, and good freehand is amazing!
Overall Aesthetic: Up to 5. this is given for a good colour scheme and army theme.
Thoughtful Planning: Up to 5. Does your army make "sense"? Mud on boots, rust or corrosion where it should settle, blood where blood should be, etc.
Basing: Up to 5. Graded between blank and mini-diorama!
Conversions: Up to 5. These are given for sculpting, bit swaps, etc (not for alternate models).
Display Board: Up to 5. How much thought and effort went into your army display? Does it enhance the appearance of your army?
Extras: Up to 5. Let's call this "Pizazz" points.
A Git that is over thinkin' will realise this adds up to 75. That's why there is the Cap of 60- you could get a full score with no conversions, no display board, and no pizazz if you are an amazing painter who doesn't want to alter the models. or maybe you love kitbashing and converting but you don't freehand well. You can still get those full 60 points for your team. But if it is capped, how do we know what club is the Shiniest?
That's where "Favourite Army" voting comes in. During the paint judging window, all players will cast a vote for which army is their favourite (You can't vote for yourself or your own team just to get higher points, you Gitz!). For each vote received, the player earns 1 point beyond their rubric score, which can go beyond the capped 60!
With all of this in mind, that means that there are a potential ((60x4)+60)) 300 POINTS available for your team! All of this is work you can put in before dice even start rolling- so get those brushes-a-brushin and those knives-a-knifen!
